"Who let da Dogs out?"

"Woof woof woof, Woof woof!!!!!"
They're laughing at the cops. They know it's all for show; the dogs, the armoured vehicles, the riot squad. A meat wagon pulls up. A local is led away. The cops have roughed him up. He defended his brother and clobbered a "student". It's a no-no. Don't protect your own from drunken hillbillies. The Stasi zoom in on kids with baseball hats; Zero Tolerance for Residents. The Andytown News would be proud. For the rich scum it's different; its a big fucking pantomime. At least the cops have the decency to be angry at these cunts. Maybe it's frustration; they can't do to them what they did to us when they dragged us off the Ormeau Road. There'll be no plastic bullets in the face for rich cunts, no Billy-Clubs wrapped round the head, no being trailed through broken glass.
They're singing,
"We all live in the Holy-Holy Land, Holy-Holy Land, Holy-Holy land"
The cops are desperate. They can't afford to lose this showdown.
"We need you to step back, Mr Murray. We have a public order situation."
"Is there an O.C. here?"
"Ask the sergeants. They're dealing with this"
There's no commander on the ground. Jim Young, local Inspector, is nowhere.
An officer pretends to film the mob. She can't even operate the camcorder.
The cops are engaging them, taking their drink and pouring it away. Bottles fly. The cops are arguing with them, pushing them back.
"Throwing bottles is a criminal offence!!!"
I would have thought this was obvious. A previous Inspector thought different.
It takes a hundred cops, a company level unit, to deal with five houses. If St Patrick's Day had happened during Term Time they would have had no hope. In previous years we have had 6000 drunken yokels inflicting Mob Rule for 48 hours solid while the cops drive by and watch, doing nothing.
Slowly the "students" disperse. They have other places to be, a mini-riot in the Hatfield to enjoy. We had a homeopathic dose of culture this year. Only a handful of these people were up, the rest having no classes and no excuse for being here. Parental authority was presumably exercised. It is a suitably rare occurrence. No-one need claim that progress has been made. Token gestures don't fool the "students". Remember, it was one of us, not them that was hauled away.
In their enthusiasm to go the cops abandon a landrover. The "students" bleed the tyres, leaving it stranded like a ship on the rocks. It's an appropriate metaphor for the whole situation.

Useless police? too right...bring back the RUC!!! They'd sort it out alright....mind you they would also probably laugh at the tit for tat accusations between residents around here, the solicitors, the cops, the court orders. Then they'd knock a few heads together, put their boot through Alan's computer and tell everyone to
FUCK UP! Having restored order they would most probably go back to seizing drink from students and drinking it in the back of the Landrover whilst getting their baton's polished by the local girls up from the country....proper order!

The RUC haven't gone away you know. Scratch the surface and it's the same old story. What some people are ignoring is that they service a class agenda, as do their employees the Provo leadership. It should surprise no-one that Sinn Fein's press statements were drafted in Downing Street. It appears that front page articles in the Andytown News are too. "Zero Tolerance" for working class people. The Provo leadership have showed their hand. They despise their own communities. It is no surprise that the head of Community Restorative Justice in West Belfast has been outed as a tout. A programme intended to exclude the cops and build community solidarity has been turned into a vehicle for the RUC/PSNI Iron Heel to stamp on the working class. Naturally if you're gonna force people to pay water charges for a privatised service it helps to have the cops target non-payment activists marked out by the Provo Collaborator Cunts.

Naturally there is no Iron Heel for the rich. They have a licence to go completely fucking mad and destroy the quality of life of real people. And if we have the temerity to speak out or resist in any way we get the whole nine yards from the RUC/PSNI and their "Partners in the Community" who have been given a licence to even commit attempted murder and get away with it.

republican scum??? do you reralise how useless, overstretched and exhausted the RUC was and is. I mean they had to be replaced by the brtish army to stop "LOYALIST MOBS" from rampaging through nationalist areas, who were already under blatant discrimination in housing, jobs, the vote system throught gerry mandering+ ratesetc

Does it not occur to you that most of the decent students avoided the Holylands? The ones that stayed and created all the fuss are, I think you'll find, the crowd that usually get blocked in The Hatfield and come home singing 'We all live in the Holy-Holy Lands' every effing week. You couldn't have paid me to be in the Holylands over St Patrick's. I'd rather remove my own eyes with sharp sticks.

The fact that only a small percentage of the student community were involved this year should tell you something... Most of us aren't here to cause trouble. We just want to get our degree and get a decent job at the end of it all. The inconsiderate country yahoos that treat the place as their own party ground are not representative of the student populace here. Some of us were just unfortunate enough to not be able to live elsewhere.

I don't agree that it is only a "tiny minority". This line has been pushed and pushed by the universities and their proxies in BHRA for over ten years. It simply does not tie with my experience and that of loads of other ex/residents. Look at Halloween for example. There is no escaping the fact that at least half of Queens undergraduates do not go to class. Therefore they are here to abuse education and have a 3 year party. They are disproportionately drawn to the Holylands therefore a large majority of the "student" population there are "bogus students" who use the place as a holiday camp.
